In some districts the cause is to be sought directly in too heavy
cut-aings. In Ostrobothnia the growth has remained approximately the
fame, but in North Finland the reduction of the large over-mature
torests has caused the figure referring to the growth to rise in spite of
s slight decrease in volume. The rise in the figure indicating the
growth of forests on poor productive forest land, already mentioned,
is a striking feature throughout the country.
