X fig.
7); en lang lænke af jern (pl. X fig.
deri blev hængt over ilden, og af udmerket arbeide;
nogle vredne stænger af jern, men spædere end
nysnævnte, formodentlig hørende til jernkjedelen; end-
videre følgende træsager: 10 halvrunde pinde,
hvoraf 9 af ek og med udskjæringer (pl. VII fig. 8,9),
VII fig. 3, A a, b, c)
VIII fig. 2 a, b, c), udvendig med

tyk, to af dem runde, 15 cm. i tvermaal, den tredje
VIII fig. 5)

form, undtagen at to (pl. IX fig. 7) have haandtag;

furthest aft of the sepulchral chamber and the nearest
frame, were found fragments of a riveted iron
caldron with its hank (pl. X. fig. 7), a long iron
chain (pl. X. fig. 4. 5) part of which fell to pieces
under the attempt to bring it out. Its workmanship
is singularly good and it doubtless belonged to the
above (pag. 43) mentioned cooking caldron which
was by its means hung over the fire. Further were
found some twisted rods of iron, but more slender
than those just named and which possibly belonged
to the iron caldron: — and also the wooden articles
following: 10 half-round sticks, 9 whereof were of
oak and engraved (pl. VII. fig. 8. 9), the remaining

in diameter, Ly em,

These plates have unquestionably served as candle-
sticks (conf, pag. 33), a fact corroborated by the
just mentioned charring which may have been cau-
sed by the candle having fallen down and burned
into the plate: — 6 round cups of foliferous tree,
now much shrunk, somewhat different in size, but all
essentially identical in form, except two (pl. IX, fig. 7)
which are provided with handles; and finally: — a
small basin, or deep plate of oakwood (pl. IX. fig. 8).
Scattered over the foremost half of the aft-room ‘were
found four oaken implements somewhat different
in size one from the other, but of a like general
form, and all for the strengthening of the wood pro- .
vided with a bolt through the head and a stout tre-
nail through their middle, three of them and among ©
them the largest (pl. IV. fig. 1) and one of the
(pl. IV. fig. 2) smaller, having a beaded edge; these
were probably used, that cords might be wound
round them; all bear traces of wear.
