Järntorgsbrunnen, (The Fountain at the Iron market
place). There is a history in the memory of bygone
days brought to mind by the middle part of the
fountain, the prominent irombowl. On this will be
found a facsimile of the trade marks of the old iron
mines, the shipment of which took place from Gothenburg.
The importance of the export of Swedish iron
played an important part in the history of our
country and the City’s economy, as in the 17th
century Sweden had a larger production of iron than
any other country in the world.
