ten Orgelbauer Murkussen aus Schleswig eine schöne
Orgel aufführen Hessen.
Die Kirche ist, 156 Fuss lang, 55 Fuss breit
und 52 Fass hoch im Mittelschiff; der Thurm
hateine Höhe von 162 Fuss und ist bekleidet mit
gelbem Klinker. Portal und Fenster, die mit
Schnitzwerk verziert sind, sind aus feingehauenein
Sandstein. Das Dach ist mit Schiefer gedeckt. .
Das Innere gewährt uns einen schönen Anblick;
Das dreifache Schiff der Kirche-wird von den
spitz-¡bogenförmigen Dachstühlei) getragen, die man von
Innen sieht; das Mittelquadrat und das Chor
erhallten eine herrliche Beleuchtung durch die grossen
jgothischen Fenster. Der Altarschmuck ist höchst
[einfach, nur bestehend aus einer Tafel mit blauem
iGrunde, durchbrochen von glänzenden Sternen und
¡mit zwei symbolisch bedeutungsvollen Buchstaben
aus dem griechischen Alphabet versehen. -
Kanzel und Altar sind wie das Uebrige in
gothischein Styl gehalten und die Erstere ist in
feiner Schnitzarbeit mit den Bildern der 4
Evangelisten geschmückt. Alle Holzarbeit ist inwendig
wie Eichenholz gemalt, was der Kirche ein
einfaches, aber würdiges und geschmackvolles
Aussehen giebt.
Nachdem die Kirche schon vollendet war, ist
in derselben noch ein Wärmeapparat angelegt und
der Thurm mit einer Uhr versehen worden, die
nach allen vier Seiten die Zeit angiebt; beide Theile
sind ebenfalls Gaben wohlwollender Privatleute.
Kyrkan håller 156 fot i längd, 55 d:o i bredd
och 52 i höjd under mittelskeppet. Tornet har en
höjd af 162 fot. Den är reveterad med gul klinkert,
Portalen och fönstren, som prydas med rosverk,
äro af finhuggen sandsten.
Konterfortbétäckningar-ne äro af kalksten. Taket är täckt med skiffer.
Det inre af kyrkan företer en ståtlig anblick.
Kyrkan är treskeppig och uppbäres af spetsbågiga
takstolar, som äro synliga inuti kyrkan.
Mittelqva-draten och koret hafva en herrlig belysning genom
de stora götiska fönstren. Altarprydnaden är högst
enkel, utgörande en af lysande stjernor
genombruten tafla på blå grund, i öfrigt blott förseed med
ett par symboliskt betecknande bokstäfver utur det
grekiska Alfabetet.
Predikstolen, likasom altarskränket, hållen i
götisk stil, likasom det hela, utgöres af det finaste
snid-. verk, den förra prydd med bilderna af de fyra
evangelisterna. Allt träarbetet inuti är måladt i gul
ekfärg, hvilket gifver det hela ett enkelt, men
värdigt och prydligt utseende.
Sedan kyrkan fullbordades, har i densamma
blifvit anlagd en värmledningsapparat, äfvensom
tornet blifvit försedt med ett ur, som åt alla fyra
sidorna utvisar tiden. Äfven dessa anläggningar äro
verk af den enskilda välviljan.
The never tireing munificence of the
inhabitants of Gottenburg is also plainly seen in the
interior of the church.
Two members of the congregation of the
Cathedral have made the church a present of its
beautiful organ, erected in 1861 by the celebrated organ
builders Marcussen Brothers of Schleswig.
The Church is 156 feet in height by a breadth
of 55, feet and a height of 52 feet at the centre
nave. The height of the steeple is 162 feet. The
portal and windows, adorned with tracery are of
fine sand stone. The copings are of limestone and
the roof is slated. ’
The interior of the church affords an almost
magnificent aspect. The church has three naves
supported by painted arches. rIhe central quadrant
and the choir arb splendidly lighted by the large
Gothic windows. The adornments of the altar are
very simple the Altar-piece being an assemblage of
bright stars on a blue ground containing besides,
nothing but a couple of symbolical letters from the
Greek Alphabet. _
The pulpit, like the altar-railing, in the Gothic
style, is of the finest iron-work; the former is
adorned with images of the four evangelists. All the
wood-work inside is painted in imitation of
yellow-oak, giving the whole a simple but ornamental
appearance. _
Since the church was finished, a heating
apparatus has been introduced, and the steeple has been
provided with a clock, with dials on all the four sides.
The two latter objects were also the fruits of
private munificence.
