HANDLINGAR TILL GEORGE SCOTTS VERKSAMHET I SVERIGE i 6 7

Ere S. left the town, he went as in duty bound, to take
farewell of Ternström, when he received such a volley of illnatured
abuse as he never was previously subjected to. Lieu:t Schönström
who was present (as also Mag. Elmblad) assured me he had never
in any circumstances heard one man so villify another. The
possession of a conscience void of offence, and the assurance of your
confidence formed his support.

I expect the Courier tom. and should there be any thing of
importance from Rahmn, shall not delay communicating it.

Believe me
with unfeigned respect & love
Yours obediently with Gospel
Geo. Scott.

Monday, 4 P.M.

P. S. Many hearty thanks for the scriptural, spiritual &
practical address at the Chapel Royal on the 12th. Many flowery
speeches have I heard there, but my heart & eyes were full while
listening to your »right words» and I prayed: Lord make me such
a faithful & wise steward.

26. Till P. Wieselgren.

Stockholm, April 24. 1840.

Dear Brother,

Prostrate on my bed from an unusually violent rheumatic attack,
I renew by a hasty line a correspondence which has long been
interrupted. The reason — I received from the Rev:d R. Baird,
our Baird, a letter a few days ago, intimating his intention of
visiting Sweden, this coming summer. I immediately wrote to
Jönköping to ascertain the day fixed for the great meeting there, that I
might inform Mr. B., and urge him to endeavour to be present.
It does not appear to be known there when the meeting is to be
held, and a fear is entertained that the prolongation of the Diet,
may interfere with it. In the meanwhile I write my dear Br. Baird
to day, and mention the beginning of July, and I write you, that I
have done so, and that you may make arrangements accordingly.

Hoping to hear from you soon,

Believe me,
Yours affectionately

Geo. Scott.
