My dear Sir,
I avail myself, with thanks, of your kind offer to take charge
of my despatches, and I send them to you herewith, addressed »to
the Honourable Daniel Webster, Sec:y of State Washington», who
I am sure, will be very happy to see you at Washington & if you
will show these lines to Mr. Webster, He will consider this, as a
letter of recommendation, in your favour, to his kind reception.

I recommend you also, when you are at Washington, to call
on Mr. Nordin, the Swedish Ch. d’affaires, — and on His
Excellency Mr. Bodisco — to both of whom I have mentioned you — in my
letters to them; They will both be glad to see you — & to talk
about Stockholm.
Now may God prosper and protect you on your voyages, and
above all I pray you to keep up your spirits; a few months pass
over rapidly. Mrs Scott & your Children are surrounded by good
and kind Friends; we will all take care of Her; and, I promise
you, I will go & see her.
Again God bless you! Give my kindest messages to Lord
Bloom-field & to your Rev:d Fellow Traveller Mr. Baird; tell him that I
am not sure if I have quite forgiven him for his preferring to see
the Emperor — to seeing me — at Petersburg.
