MEDDELANDEN OCH AKTSTYCKEN
Subscriber to our Infant School requested Miss Berglund some time
ago to make enquiries at Stockholm and she having commissioned
her Sister, who it seems in her reply has offered herself; but our
Miss B., however desirous to get her Sister over here, declines, from
motives of delicasy and fears that her Sister might not give
satisfaction to the School Directors, recommending her, although she thinks
it possible that her Sister would do for this responsible situation, —
and she would be glad if you would speak to her and examine
whether she ought or not to undertake such an office. — From the
enclosed Memorandum you will observe what are the claims upon
her and what the emoluments & terms offered. — If your time
permits of this Miss Berglund you will soon be able to ascertain her
qualifications, which perhaps are already known to you as our Miss
B. says she has formerly in Stockholm for some time assisted her
in the management of the Infant Schools, lf you then would favor
me with a few lines about the result of your conversation and
whether she agrees to the terms or desires something above the Salary
etc. — We could then send over a Contract to be signed by her.
— If you [do]’ not consider her suitable perhaps you could propose
some other experienced and fit female.
Most happy shall I feel to hear from you, at your convenience,
and that you and your family are quite well. -— We are, thank God,
at present all in health although sickness has repeatedly this winter
visited us, myself of course not excepted. At one time Mama, and
Caroline and Lloyd were at once confined to their beds. — The
latter is now, after having taken his »Student Examen», engaged in
our office. — My wife unites with me in sincerest and kindest
regards to yourself and Mrs Scott and with true esteem I remain
ever, my dear Sir,
Yours very truly
Gust. Ad. Berger.
