therefore I am ye lesse carefull to complie with men, and I study
to weane my self from ye loue and hope of outw[ar d things onely
that I may bee the more free and independant towards those
spiri-tuall enterprizes wherein if god will vse mee as an instrument I
must needs learne to know none but him in all my wayes. I haue
almost lost the hope of rest & setting any where yet the issue of
my endeauo[ursj here will goe neare to determine my resolutions in
that nature. What assistannce outwardly I should craue or expect
from you I knowe not, 1 pray you to write to the L:d Channc:
who will certainely bee here before winter, & to giue me ye copie
of your letter y:t I may be able to apply my self to the purpose,
w:ch you shall set downe in it, & second the arguments w:ch you
shall thinke good to propose vnto him.

Illustrissime & Magnificentissre Domine. Liceat rnihi etiam
privatum exultantis cordis mei affectum, publicis .propter exoptatissimi,
desideratissimique reditus Vestri prosperum successum
congratulatio-nibus adiungere: eumque hoc occulto meaque conditioni consentaneo
indicio prodere: etenim cum non minus tota cogitationum mearum
priuata ratio, quam totus rerum publicarum status ab expectatione
aduentus Vestri suspensus fuerit hactenus: certe mihi non minor quam
alijs iusta gaudij materia suppetit. Nam cum in Belgio paulo ante
Kalend. Maias ab Excelhti D:no Camerario Regni huius legato
in-tellexissem constitutum iam tum fuisse Illustr:ti Vestræ, fælicitatem
suæ præsentiæ huic Regno restituere: iter inde ad has usque partes
suscipere non detrectaui, ut hoc in loco Illus:ti V:ræ occurrerem:
neque hue usque toto quo hie fui tempore fas mihi esse putaui
quicqua[m] in negotio quod alibi non sine fructu persequutus sum
hic attentare: ideo quod absente Magnificentia V:ra (cui ab initio
studia mea perspecta fuerunt) nihil aggredi aut apud Ecclesiasticos
Vestros conari consultissimum iudicarem. In silentio igitur atque
spe delitui; measque cogitationes ab omni alia actione continui nisi
quod Illustriss:o D:no Regni Archidapifero, ut æquum erat, scopum
meum exhibita illi eius delineatione patefecerim. Quid autem in re
tota hactenus actum, Quomodo negotium apud exteros ubique
pro-motum, Quibus difficultatibus extricatum fuerit: & quid spei sit rei
posthac sine impedimento ad umbilicum perducendæ; ut reliqui
