our little authors & Rays according to your System. In my last I think
I mentioned to you something of a new method of treating the pox, 1
have used the method with extra succés & I do think it bids fair for
extirpating y* disease from the number of our miseries. I have found
that crude mercury joyns perfeclly with rubarb by trituration & a little
water, this undoubtedly was belost8 genuin pilis. I have also tryed it
with other vegetable substances & amoung others with sarsaparilla in
powder mercur pars 1. pulv. partes tres which triturated with a little
water extinguishes the mercury admirably & this given in a moderate
dose bis die soon roots out every symptom of that disease without
sa-livation or purgation, the patient in mild weather walking the Street,
however I think it necessary to assist it where there are local complaints,
obstructions of the uretra with bugies chankres by warm water to every
ounce of wh 1 order 7, to 10 drops of a solution of one drachme of
corrosive sublimate in an ounce of Spir. vini rectific. & a little lint dipt
in this clainses them in 3 or 4 days & soon after hails them. the same
used as a lotion & injection after suspitious commerce often prevents
infection. & the least touch of aqua fortis in wh mercury is disolved
ad saturationem wastes or carries of warts & ficus’s.
The same method cures the yaws effeetually, but no other
mercu-rial course does the same.

additions, but the titlepage is lost by toping so often from one place to
another. 1 would request a set of yours, those I have had are lost in
America & some left with young mr van Rohen in Su Groix. So that
I want almost all especially as you mention to me in your last that you
gave another edition of the species & genera mine are the old edition. & if
you could ad the museum fredericanum I would be infinitely oblidged
to you. there are frequent opportunities from Stockholm hither in the
summer & any commands for me, you may put into the hands of Mr
Patrick at Robert Finleys Esqr in Stockholm, whose mother lives in
business in this city; or otherways direct it for me, to the care of
Anthony Dermot Esqr merch* Dublin, for fear I should be in the country,
when you write. The plants of Europe at present are stränge to me I
am oblidged to examin the flowers of every one before 1 know the
most common. I do not know if our arbutus be the unedo, the flower
