Borster.

Dyrets Farve er hvidagtig, uden nogen tydelig
Pig-inentering.

Længden gaar op til 11)""". Ialinindelighed er
Hannerne noget større end Hunnerne.

Forekomst og Udbredning. Nærværende Art er
lin-ler Expeditionen observeret paa ikke mindre end 7
forskjellige Stationer, alle tilhørende den kolde Area. Af
disse ligger 2 (Ståt. 18 og 31) i Havet udenfor vor
Vestkyst, 2 (Ståt. 124 og 137) udenfor Helgelandskysten, 1
(Ståt. 200) NV af Finmarken og 1 (Ståt, 312) V af Beeren
Eiland.

Finally, the last pair (fig. 5 1) are exceedingly small,
simple, and composed of 2 joints, of which the 1st (the
stem) is short and broad, protending inward as a pointed
lappet bearing a single spine. The terminal joint is oval
in form, and fringed along the edges with delicate bristles.

The telson (see fig. 5 lc) constitutes a rather large,
semi-elliptic plate, furnished at the extremity with 2 short
bristles.

Colour of animal whitish, without any distinct
pigmentation.

Length reaching 10"™. As a rule, the males are
somewhat larger than the females.

Occurrence and Distribution. — The present species
was observed on the Expedition at as many as 7 different
Stations, all belonging to the cold area. Of these, 2 (Stats.
18 and 31) lay off the West Coast of Norway, 2 (Stats.
124 and 137) oft’ the coast of Helgeland, 1 (Ståt. 200)
north-west of Finmark, and 1 (Ståt. 312) west of Beeren
Eiland. Depth ranging from 350 to 658 fathoms.

Hence, the tract throughout which the species is at
present known to be distributed, comprises the eastern slope
of the sea-bed where it shelves toward the great deep of
the Northern Ocean — from the 63rd to the 75th parallel
of latitude. The animal must uquestionably be regarded
as a true Arctic form.
