PREFACE This little book is not intended to give exhaustive information on the great variety of questions — historical, geographical, political, economic, indus- trial, commercial, and of literature and art — which may be deemed of interest to a foreigner wishing to gain a closer knowledge of conditions ruling in Norway. Its object is to serve as a guide for foreign pressmen, commercial men, tourists, and others interested in Norway, and to furnish them with preliminary information, at the same time directing them to the sources from which further particulars can be obtained. In order that the desired limits of size and cost should not be exceeded in this first edition, it has been found necessary to leave out useful information on many subjects.
