The head of the bank inspection office is
Mr. Bjarne Haugaard, Director (Ministry of
Finance, Oslo).
In addition to those mentioned above, the follow-
ing banks whose specific objects are determined
by law, have been established under government
direction:
Kongeriget Norges Hypotekbank.
Established by Act of September 18, 1851. The
object of this mortgage bank is to furnish loans
at reasonable rates of interest against security in
real property. Its prime aim is to support agricul-
ture. The bank is controlled by a board of three
members, two of whom are elected by the Stor-
ting and one by royal appointment. The head
offices of the bank are in Oslo.
Den norske Arbeiderbruk- og Boligbank.
Established by Act of June 9, 1903. The object
of this bank is to grant loans for the purchase
of workmen’s holdings in rural districts and to
enable wage-earners and salaried employees to
build dwelling-houses. The bank is administered
by the board of the Hypothekbank.
Den norske Stats Smaabruk- og Boligbank.
Founded by Act of July 23, 1915, with the object
of extending the aims as laid down for the
