heading, ‘Symptomatic Religiosity’. At times it is very
difficult to draw the line between insanity and nervous
disturbances. If one attempts to indicate where it should be drawn
in relation to scrupulosity, it is perhaps nearest the truth to say
pure scrupulousness indicates neurosis, while intense
preoccupation with the idea of sin strongly suggests insanity. The
wise spiritual adviser will always consult a trustworthy physician
about the cases of scr rupulosity’ he meets, and see to it’ that they
receive the medical care they need.
