komma att kantra.)
While a ship was on a stormy woyage across the North
Sea. two sailor-boys were told to go aloft to make the sails fast.
The rolling of the ship made their work difificult, but as they
had been at sea for several months, they had had plenty of
practice and ought to have been able to do what was needed.
By some accident, however, one of them lost his hold, and
in falling carried the other down with him into the sea. No
sooner were they seen to fall than three of the seamen ran to
the side of the ship and lowered a boat to try and
save them. On reaching the water, the Struck out and rowed
as hard as they could towards the boys, whom they could
just see.
When they got up to them, they found that their boat was
so small and the sea was so high, that any attempt to save the
boys one by one would upset the boat. What was to be done?
They saw that they must steer between the two boys and get
them to climb on board at the same time, one from each side.
That plan was successful, and after a long struggle with
the waves they got back again with the two boys whom they
had saved.
Provräkning.
1. En person, som skulle resa utrikes, växlade till sig i guld
500 mark och 450 francs för en summa av 769 kr. Hade
han i stället köpt 450 mark och 500 francs, så hade han
fått betala 8 kr. 50 öre mindre. Beräkna härav guldkursen
på mark och franc.
2. På den svenska flaggan (nationalflaggan) förhåller sig
längden till bredden som 8 : 5, och de båda banden, som
bilda det gula korset, hava överallt en bredd, motsvarande
Vö av flaggans. Huru stor del av vår flagga upptager den
gula färgen?
3. Hur stor årsränta får man på 5,211 kronor, om man för denna
summa köper 4 1/2 % obligationer efter 96 % kurs?
