Detta sammanförande av lärostoffet på ett jämförelsevis
litet antal kapitel har möjliggjorts främst därav, att
författaren icke förr upptar till behandling ett lands historia, än
detta land verkligen har en plats i världshistorien. Sålunda
har författaren först i kapitlet »Rise of Russia and Prussia»
(kap. XIX) haft anledning att syssla med Polens historia, då
ju denna historia blir av verkligt världshistoriskt intresse,
först då Polens grannar börja kasta sina rovlystna blickar på
detta land. På grund härav kan Polens historia behandlas i
ett sammanhang i läroboken. Ett annat exempel på
likartad behandling erbjuder den framställning, som ägnats Ryss-
