kronor. It is a private banking office and furnishes loans at low interest, but no
dividends are paid to its members. The total income is used for the benefit of the
industry. Jernkontoret keeps a staff of prominent consulting engineers, which may be
called to the assistance of the members against very moderate fees. It publishes a
technical paper, Jernkontorets Annaler, which 1917 celebrated its centenary, and which
is the leading technical paper of the Swedish iron and steel industry. It gives a
substantial support to college and schools of mining and metallurgy, &c.
The regulations and bylaws of the association are sanctioned by the King and
thus its standing is of half official character.
