| Olof Ekberg The maypole, here shown in a Leksand village in Dalecarlia, is raised on Midsummer Eve throughout the country, and is a beautiful symbol of the youthful joie de vivre of the Swedish people. At the same time it is a tribute to ancient custom and testifies to the Swedish loyalty to inherited tradition. |
