€ Species endemic in. Celebes.

species here described as new: 84. Asplenium dicranurum (56, 57), 85. Di- |
plazium acanthopus (14), 86. Humata Kaudernii (78) and var. variabilis (55).
87. Lomagramma sinuata (73), 88. Polypodium scalpturatum (37).

ON THE NEW AND CRITICAL SPECIES.

Aspidium labrusca (Hook.) Christ (no. 21).

The only specimen has its 6 leaves densely and shortly glan-
duloso-pubescent beneath and in this it agrees far better with A.
vitis (Rac.) C. Chr. judging from the descriptions of this Bornean |
species (by RacrBonskr, Curist, Ann. Jard. Buit. II. 5: 108 t. 3 f.
2, v. A. v. R. Handb. 516). These authors have, however, evi- |
dently overlooked that the original illustration of A. labrusca (Hook.
sp. 5 t. 185) shows the leaves pubescent just as in our specimen,
and I am very inclined to believe that A. vilis (Rac.) is a direct
synonym of A. labrusca, while the glabrous plants by RACIBORSKI
(Bull. Ac. Cracovie 1902: 61) and others named A. (Sagenia) la-
brusca belong to Tectaria Brooksii Copeland (Phil. Journ. Sci. Bot.
6: 137 t. 20) — The six leaves of our plant show considerable
difference in cutting, while four older leaves are entire-cordate and
very well agree with the plates quoted above, two younger leaves
on slightly longer stalks are more divided; one has two large ba-
sal lobes, the other is fully tripartite with the terminal pinna on!
