Sciadopitytes Crameri (Heer) Halle.

Described by Heer (1868) under the generic name Pinus. Re-
cently reinvestigated by Harte (1915). Further this species is iden-
tical with Pinus microphylla Heer (1877) from Spitzbergen.

Occurrence: Kome and Ekkorfat, Greenland; Cap Boheman,
Spitzbergen.

Geological age: Lower Cretaceous — Middle Jurassic.

Sciadopitytes macrophylla, sp. nov.

The double needles of this species seem to have been more than
40 mm long and 3,5—4 mm broad. After the maceration we find
a broad median papillate and stomatiferous groove, whose margins,
however, are characterized neither by an accumulation of papillae
nor by cuticular lists. The bottom of the groove is covered with
papillae, and even the 4—8 subsidiary cells of each stoma are
papillate. The stomata are orientated longitudinally, but regular
rows of stomata are absent. — This species shows a remarkable
resemblance to Sciadopitys verticillata.

Occurrence: Andö, Norway.

Geological age: Middle Jurassic.

Sciadopitytes scanica, sp. nov.

Discovered among leaves of Pityophyllum Follini Nath. On the
one side of the 0,8 mm broad and probably rather long double
needles we find a median stomatiferous groove, whose margins lack
papillae but are characterized by cuticular lists. The stomata are
orientated longitudinally but do not occur in regular rows. The
number of the papillate subsidiary cells is 6 (2 polar and 4 late- -
ral ones).

Occurrence: Pálsjó, Scania (Sweden).

Geological age: Upper Triassic (Rhaetic).

Sciadopitytes sp.

Coniferous fragments with a median stomatiferous groove which
belong to Sciadopitytes but probably to none of the species men-
tioned above.

Occurrence: Andö, Norway.

Geological age: Middle Jurassic.
