PREFACE
The Federation of Swedish Industries (Sveriges
Industriförbund) herewith presents the twentyninth annual issue of its
work of reference relating to Swedish industries, the Swedish
Industrial Directory 1947.
Part A comprises industrial member firms of the Federation
and others, numbering about 4.400, and gives information about
the industrial undertakings (Alphabetical List of Firms), names
of persons in leading position within these undertakings (List of
Persons) and the goods produced (List of Manufactures).
The Alphabetical List of Firms (FIRMAREGISTER)
gives particulars of the address, nature of business and principal
products (Tillverkningar, Tillverkar) of the various industrial
concerns, the situation of different factory departments,
addresses of head offices (Huvudkontor) and branch offices
(Avd.-kontor), telegraphic adresses (Telegr.-adr.), share capital
(Akt.-kap.) of those firms which are joint stock companies;
approximate number of hands (Antal industriarb.) employed;
the approximate value of the output in Swedish Crowns per
annum (Tillv.-värde pr år); information concerning members
of the boards (Styrelse) of joint stock companies, and
proprietors (Ägare) of private firms; the names of persons comprising
the manegement, such as Managing Director (Verkst. dir.),
Assistant Manager (Dir.-assistent), and Manager (Disp.); heads
of departments (Avd.-chefer), such as Chief Clerk
(Kontorschef), Sales Manager (Försäljningschef), Chief Engineer
(Driftsing.), etc., to such extent as may be desired by the various
concerns when supplying particulars for entry.
The List of Persons (PERSONREGISTER) comprises
the names of the persons mentioned in the list of firms, in
alphabetical order, as well as particulars relating of the years
they were born, titles, addresses and firms with which the
persons in question are connected.
The List of Manufactures
(TILLVERKNINGSREGISTER) comprises a list of goods and products of Swedish
origin and is divided into twelve different industrial groups,
these groups being again suitably sub-divided. The sub-divisions
represent the various goods or products supplied and under
