Oct. 7, 1772, by Samuel Sandels, Councillor of Mines,
Knight of the Polar Star, and member of said Academy),
Stockholm, 1772. This Biographical Sketch, which has
served more or less as the basis of all succeeding lives
.
of Swedenborg, constitutes Document 4.
1790. "The Life of the Hon. Emanuel Swedenborg, a Servant
of the Lord, and the Messenger of the New Jerusalem
Dispensation. " This life appeared in the columns of the
"New Jerusalem Magazine" for 1790. During 1796 and
1797 it appeared in a manuscript magazine entitled
Församlings Tidning (Church News) which circulated
among the members of the Society Pro Fide et Charitate.
1806. F. H. Walden’s Assessor Swedenborg’s Levnet, Adskillige
Udtog of sammes skrivter, nogle blandede Tanker, tilli
gemed Svedenborg’s System i kort udtog (Assessor
Swedenborg’s Life, extracts from his writings, his
thoughts on various matters, and a short statement of
his system), Copenhagen. This little Danish Life of
Swedenborg, of which a second edition was published
in 1820, is exceedingly scarce. The editor saw a copy
of it in the Royal Library in Stockholm.
1820. " Emanuel Swedenborg," in a biographical Journal which
appeared at Upsal entitled Samtidens Märkvärdigaste
Personer (The most celebrated persons of modern times).
This biography, which fills 36 pages, is exceedingly well
written, and partly based on oral communications. It
has furnished the substance of Document 288.
1827. "Biography of Swedenborg" by the Rev. D. G. Goyder.
