Mineralsamlingen, Systemet. I det tredie Værelse er Norges
Fos-silier. I det fjerde Værelse er Norges Mineralier. Paa
Gallerierne findes Doubletter m.m. Aabent Fredag 12—1.
Den zoologiske Samling (Opgang gjenem Vestibulen).
Samlingen er opstillet i fire store Sale. I den forreste
af disse ere de udstoppede Pattedyr anbragte; af disse
kunne mærkes Exemplarer af Elg, Rensdyr, Bjørn,
Gaupe, forskjellige Varieteter af Ræv ra. m. I den
følgende Sal er Krybdyr og Fiske opstillede, dels
udstoppede og dels i Spiritus, og i Salen indenfor de
indenlandske Fugle. Denne Del af Samlingen er særdeles
righoldig og indeholder Exemplarer af næsten alle de
i Norge fundne Fugle. I den inderste Sal er den
øvrige Fuglesamling opstillet, mest exotiske Fugle, hvoraf
Flertallet fra Sydasien. Paa Galleriet er opstillet en
Del af Fuglesamlingen, Conchylie- og Insektsamlingen
i dertil indrettede Skabe og en betydelig Samling af
lavere Sødyr paa Spiritus. Mangel paa Plads hindrer
en ordnet Opstilling af mange Gjenstande, og en stor
Del Naturalier ere af samme Grund magasinerede.

Den botaniske Samling (Opgang til Venstre i
Vestibulen). Den bestaar af Herbariet, som indeholder
omtrent 40,000 tørrede Planter, hvoriblandt alle de, som
ere fundne i Norge, Samlingen for anvendt Botanik,
der omfatter et stort Antal Gjenstande af Planteriget,
som anvendes til Næringsmidler og til teknisk Brug,
og Plantedele, Frugtformer o. s. v., som kunne anskuelig-

collection of animal skeletons is arranged in the middle
apartment. It comprises skeletons of the African and
Asiatic varieties of the elephant, of the camel, the
giraffe, the elk, the reindeer, the bear, and other beasts.
Only two whale-skeletons (small ones) have been set
up; the larger ones are packed away from want of
space. Open Monday and Friday 1—2.
The Collection of Physiological Apparatus is
arranged partly in the front room of the zoötomical
collection, and partly in the third story of the building.
Collections of Minerals (entrance door on the right
in basement). — The first room contains the collection
of fossils, and at present — from want of space — the
rocks of Norwegian formations. The systematical
collection is in the second room; the fossils of Norway
fn the third; and its minerals in the fourth. Round
the galleries are surplus specimens, &c. Open Friday
12—1.
Zoological Collection (up the steps in vestibule). —
This collection is arranged in four spacious apartments.
In the first are the mammalia, comprising amongst
others magnificent specimens of the elk, the reindeer,
the bear, the lynx, and divers species of foxes. The
chamber adjoining contains the reptiles and fishes, some
of them stuffed, others preseved in spirits of wine; and
the last room, Norwegian birds. This part of the
Collection is particularly rich, containing specimens of
almost every bird known to occur in the country. The
rest of the ornithological collection is arranged in the
inner apartment; it consists chiefly of tropical birds,
the majority natives of Southern Asia. Part of the
