3S PASSIVE MOVEMENTS:
Shakings of lower part of the Thorax.

The operator places one hand on each side of the lower part
of the thorax. With the palms he makes soft and quick com-

hands are not to be lifted from the thorax, but should remain in
close contact with it. The patient must breathe deeply. The ribs,
being elastic, rebound when the pressure is left off, and the respira-
tion becomes freer and deeper. Besides this, the movement has
the influence on pleuritic adhesions at the lower part of the thorax
of breaking them down, and the organs in the upper part of the
abdominal cavity, below the vault of the diaphragm, are also
affected.
