injury of the muscles, and partly by impaired power of the ulnar
nerve. That the nerve was actually affected was manifest from
the direction of the scar, and from the fact tliat it did not
respond to frictions over its course.

The weakness of the muscles was treated with petrissage and
active movements under resistance. Eor the diminution of
feeling I gave frictions over the ulnar nerve.
XVII. SEVEEE BEUISE OF THE EACE AND CONCUS-
SION OE THE BEAIN, IN CONSEQUENCE OF A
FALL FEOM A DOO-CAET
Mrs. A. A. C, about 50 years of age, residing at Kensington,
London, met with an accident on the 7th August 1888. The
doff-cart in which she was driving came in collision with a
heavily-laden van, and she was thrown out. She fell on her
face, was stunned by the blow, and taken to St. Thomas’s
Hospital, where restorative measures were applied. Gradually
she regained consciousness, and her daughter, who accompanied
her, then brought her to me. She felt very giddy wliile driving
