j FRITHIOF’S SAGA 210

" Hail, ye deities bright!
Ye Valhalla sons!
Earth fadeth away; to the heavenly feast
Glad trumpets invite

Me, and blessedness crowns,
As fair, as with gold helm, your hastening guest."

So spake he, pressing
The hand of his spouse,
Greeting his sorrowing friend and his son;
And then, his eyes closing,
Ring’s spirit arose,
And sped on a sigh up to Allfather’s throne.
