America and professor of our Tlieological Seminary.
He served in the former capacity for seven years
and taught in the Seminary for eight years.
After his resignation he was appointed pastor of
our church in Jamestown, and in 1885 Dr.
Hen-schen returned to Sweden, where the Conference
made full use of his talents both as editor and
teacher in its theological sdhool. In 1889 he again
returned to the United States and resumed his
position as editor of “Sändebudet”, which position
he filled with credit to himself and his church
until 1911—with exception of four years spent as
pastor in Galva. At the conference session in 1911
he retired from aetive service and lived quietly for
six years near Chesterton, Ind., close to his eldest
daughter and her hushand, Rev. A. Reese. There
he spent his time with preaching oecasionally in
Mr. Reese’s church and writing religious books.
Among works of his pen I may mention a
translation from the latin Cornelius Nepos to Swedish, a
masterpiece of its kind, two Bible Histories, one in
Swedish and one in English; a translation of
Trum-bull’s “Individual Work for Individuals ”, two
books for religious meditation: ‘ ‘ För tanken och
hjärtat” and “Vandringen med Jesus.”
The last years of his life Dr. H. and his wife spent
in Chicago. After the death of his faithful help-
