WOOD PULP
AMONG the European countries Sweden occupies the foremost position as producer
and above all as exporter of woodpulp. The following table shows the
development of as well the mechanical as the chemical woodpulpindustries in Sweden during
the last 30 years.

As it appears from the above, it is particularly the chemical woodpulp industry
(celluloseindustry), that has attained a remarkable development in Sweden, and by way
of comparison the manufacture of cellulose in other countries during 1913 is given
below, this year being the last for which reliable information from all the different
countries can be had.

Of the European countries, Germany was the only that could show a production
nearly equalling that of Sweden, while the production of the other countries was
considerably smaller.
