The Fork Power-station stands on the river Hillringsbergsalven, 1 km. from
Ilillrings-berg. It will have a capacity of 1,040 HP. and is expected to be completed in January 1921.
The three last mentioned stations are all connected with each other and, by means
of an eighty kilometres long line from Billerud at Seffle up to the Brattne Works above
Jdssefors, supply electricity to the majority of the company’s industries at Billerud,
Stomne, Ilillringsberg, Jossefors and Brattne.
Furthermore, the company owns small power-stations at Charlottenberg, near the
Norwegian frontier, at Brunsberg at the north end of Lake Varmeln and at Torsby.
At Borgvik, where the water from Lake Varmeln falls out into Lake Venern, the
company also possesses two power-stations which supply energy to the industries at
Borgvik and Kyrkebyn.
INDUSTRIES.
As pointed out above, the company’s first industrial enterprise consisted of the
sulphite mill at Billerud. By the various acquisitions of manufacturing and industrial
companies in different parts of Vermland, Billerud has, however, gradually become
possessor of a large number of wood-goods industries of different kinds, such as sulphite
mills, wood-grinding mills, paper-mills and saw-mills, planing mills and joinery factories.
Furthermore, the company also runs on a smaller scale foundries, machine-shops
and flour-mills.
Sulphite-Mills.
The company owns sulphite mills at Billerud, Slottsbron, Brattne Bruk and Kyrkebyn.
The Billerud Sulphite Will, standing on the river Byalven just to the north
of Seffle, is, as already mentioned, not only the company’s but also Sweden’s first
sulphite mill. It was erected in 1883 and rebuilt in 1899, now producing
annually about 22,000 tons of extra strong wet sulphite pulp of the brand:
This factory is run by electricity with an auxiliary steam plant. There are 5 sulphite
boilers for indirect boiling, 4 pyrites-furnaces with reserve sulphur-furnaces and 2
presses. It employs about 160 hands.
The factory’s goods address is Saffle station on the Bergslagernas Railway, and,
for sea transport, Billerud.
The Slottsbron Sulphite Factory is situated in the parish of Ed. This mill,
erected in 1898, was partially rebuilt in 1913 and 1915. It is calculated to produce
about 15,000 tons of dry sulphite pulp per annum of the quality marked:
450 HP. of electrical energy is used for driving purposes. There is also an
auxiliary steam plant. The factory has at its disposal 4 sulphite-boilers for Made aTsweden
