Fourth: To encourage the study of Swedish
history and literature in American universities.

The annual meeting shall be held on the last
Wednesday in March.

§2. Any person approved by he Committee on
Membership may’ become a member of the Society
upon payment of $2, and may remain a member by’
paying $2 a year. Members who have been in arrears
more than a year after notice has been given shall
lose their membership in the Society’.

§3. Honorary members may be elected by’
unanimous vote, upon recommendation of the Council.

§4. Any member who has paid to the Society, in
one sum, $50, shall he a life member and exempt
from further dues.

§5. All receipts from life fees and all donations
not made for a specific purpose shall constitute an
endowment fund, which shall be invested, and of
which only the income shall be used.

§6. The affairs of the Society, including the
adoption of by-laws, shall be in the hands of a
Council of fifteen members, who shall be elected by the
Society at its annual meeting, for three years, five
each year, except that at the first election five shall
be elected far one year, five for two years, and five
for three years. Any persons who has donated a
considerable sum for the purposes of the Society’ may
be elected an honorary member of the Council.

§7. The Council shall, upon its election, annually
elect from among its own members a President, a
Vice-President, a Secretary’ and a Treasurer of the
Society, and such other officers and assistants as are
deemed necessary, and may fix their compensation.
