CATALOGUE OF THE LIBRARY.



The library of the Society is, for administrative purposes,
divided in the following groups:

1) The Swedish-American collection, i, e. hooks and
other printed matter issued from Swedish-American presses
or institutions, or of Swedish-American authorship, also
manuscripts of Swedish-American origin or interest.

2) The Swedish collection, l e. books printed in Sweden
and relating to the history, literature and life of the Svredish
people in Sweden or in America.

3) Reference hooks purchased for the use of the
Society’s officers and committees.

4) All other hooks received as gifts or in exchange.
The collection composing the first group is regarded as

a whole of permanent value and must be kept intact and
available for students of Swedish-American history. The
books and manuscripts in this collection can be used m the
library only. Books belonging to the second group can be
loaned through other libraries, under such regulations as
the Committee on Library and Museum may determine, the
borrowing library to be responsible for possible losses*
Books belonging to the third group may be given out to
officers and members of committees at the discretion of the
chairman of the Committee on Library and Museum* Books
belonging to the fourth group may be loaned to members
of the Society under proper guarantee.
