After a lengthy discussion it was ordered that the
President appoint a committee to revise the constitution*
The Secretary was requested to make arrangements with
Mr, Mauri tz Enderstedt for some lectures by him, and that a
certain part of the proceeds should go to the Historical
Society without incurring any expenses to the Society.
Council Meetingf October 3, 1916.
This meeting was called for the purpose of preparing plans
for the Annual meeting.
The President appointed the following persons on the
nomination committee: G. S, Ohslund, Alfred A, Norton and
F N, Andrén,
Gottfrid Nelson and A. G, S. Josephson were appointed a
committee to bring before the Annual meeting the Society’s
resolution to participate in the subscription for the monument
of the late Joh. A. Enander,

The eleventh annual meeting of the Swedish Historical
Society was held in The Svithiod Club-House, Nov. 3, 1916.
The President, Rev. C. A. Lindvall, delivered an eloquent
address in the Swedish language, particularly referring to the
history, culture and memorable acts of the Swedes in America
and our duty to carefully preserve our historical records.
The principal speaker of the evening, Dr. M. Wahlström,
Superintendent of the Augustana Hospital, delivered a
splendid address, pointing out the way in which we best could
preserve our native language in this land.

Mr. President, Ladies and Gentlemen
It devolves upon your secretary to give a short resumé of
the work of your Council during the past year. At its
meetings all the members have responded to the call of our
president, thereby showing their unfailing interest for the cause,
oftentimes neglecting their own business in conscientious
efforts to further the interests for which they were elected.
