summer, likewise that I intended to begin to study for the
ministry a year ago. It was for that purpose, as you
know, as well as for the sake of meeting my relatives,
that I went away in April. During my trip I secured a
position, with a scholarship sufficient for my support, at
the University at Rochester, N. Y. But as I could not
accept at once, being first constrained to look after my
sister and brother-in-law, seeing that they were poor, I
went with them up here to Minnesota. It has teen my
purpose to offer one year’s labor % for their welfare
especially; and I see that, at the end of that year next
August, my brother-in-law will be able to support himself
easily without my help. I will then be ready to begin at
Rochester... (in case I ever do)...

och stor hederskänsla — man hade ofta i tal och
