It is evident that Bradycinetus brenda, G. S. Brady, 1S71. p. 292, does not even belong
to the genus Philovie des, as is clearly shown by pl. XXVI, fig. 6. According to BRADY’s own
statement 1890, p. 650, this form is identical with the male of Cypridina mediterranea 0. COSTA,
and this statement is not contradicted by the figure in question.
It is possible that Ph. brenda, R. W. SlIARPE, 1909, p. 428 is synonymous with the species
dealt with here. The figure of the male shell given by Sharpe differs, however, so decicledlv
from the type of shell observed by me that it did not seem right to include this name in the
list of synonyms given above.
