cleaning bristles are fairly constant: six bristles in a distinct lower row and two or three bristles
close to the main bristle b were observed, they are sometimes different even on the right and
left mandibles of the same individual.
M axilla (fig. 6): — Protopodite: The distal endite is armed with three bristles,
whieh are either subequal or eise the middle one is somewhat shorter than the other two. The
dorso-proximal bristle is moderately long, in most cases somewhat longer than the ventral bristle
on the basale. The basale lias the short ventero-distal bristle developed and a single nnusually
long dorso-distal bristle (it is practically the same length as the bristle of the end joint), a character
