harvest. Wc have only to think that if the right
men could once be found to start work, so much
room could be made here for new hornes, and for
thousands and thousands of people that are now
more or less workless, and could become useful
producers. There is more than enough room here
on this little earth, if only it were shared out and
made use of with some intelligence.
After the meeting there was a great breakfast
with the whole of the commissariat ; all these
Mohammedans drank wine, and there were many
eloquent speeches on the fruits of our co-operation
and on the future of Daghestan.
