was forced to enlarge its workshops and forging departments considerably on account of the large orders for munitions for Sweden and other neutral states. Taking the floor area this extension was not less than 12,500 sq. metres. All the different shops were at the same time concentrated and systematically arranged.

Besides guns and projectiles, which are the main manufactures, Bofors also makes a speciality of ship anchors, propellers, davits, solid and bored ship shafts, rudders, stems, &c., which demand good material. During the last few years the manufacture of small marine Diesel motors has been commenced. The demand for the Company’s special steel in the form of rolled iron, forgings and castings has led to the development of the hydraulic presses, the forges for heavy and light goods, the drop-hammers and the manufactory forge, foundries and rolling mills to such an extent that
