4. Euthemisto antarctica, Dana, 1852.

Syn. 1852. Themisto antarctica. Dana. United States Exploring Expedition.

Crustacea. Voi. 2, p. 1005, pl. 69, fig. 1

It is closely allied to E. Gaudichaudi, but differs by the
short carpal process of the second pair of pereiopoda, by the
metacarpi of the third and fourth pairs being armed with a
few short bristles, by the last pair of uropoda being shorter
than the preceding, and by the very long rami of ali uropoda.

Length 20 mm.

Hab. »Antarctic Sea, Lat. 68° S., Long 94° W.» (Dana.)

5. Euthemisto Nordenskiöldi, C. Bovallius, 1887.

Pl. 47, fig. 104—110.

Syn. 1887. Euthemisto Nordenskiöldi. C. Bovallius. »Systematical list of

the Amphipoda
Hy-periidea.» Bih. tili
K. Svenska Vet.-Ak.
Handl., Bd 11, N:o

16, p. 22.

Possibly the Hyperia Cyanece Spence Bate (not Sabine)
is identical with this species. The description is however too
incomplete to allow of a certain judgement in this case.

From the other species it differs by the carpal process of
the second pair of pereiopoda being about as long as half the
metacarpus, without a terminal spine, by the convex
meta-carpus of fifth pair, and by the dactyli of the fifth to seventh
pairs being provided with a bunch of strong bristles at the
anterior margin.

Length 6—12 mm.

Hab. West coast of Greenland, Arctic Ocean, coasts of
Novaja Semlja. (S. M., D. M., U. M.)

[The ninth family PlirOllilllitlBP, Dana,
is not represented in the regions in question.]
