My dearest Brother:
In answer ...I have always been ...at the service of
my countrymen, and am doing this solely for the sake
of Christ, and without considering to what church they
belong... My dear Brother says that he ”hopes that we
would work for one and the same great goal in concord
and peace...” ...as regards the great advantage in
”biblical purity and depth of faith”, claimed by my dear
Brother on behalf of the Lutheran doctrine, I do not
desire to dispute about it here.... For me, however, the
doctrine is of less account than Jesus’ application: ”Go
and do thou likewise”...

... In case Olof Jonason intends to come here and take
up land... here is a Swede now who wants to sell his
place... He has only 80 acres with house and a small
field. ...And he cannot pay before the pre-emption is
over...
