unsatisfactory from several points of view. The chief cause of this is probably that these authors
have paid attention to too few characters.
A new classification of this family seems to me absolutely necessary and should be carried
ont. as soon as possible. It may perhaps seem prématuré to attempt to do this at this early
stage, as our knowledge of the species belonging to this group that have previously been
described is very incomplete in most cases on account of the incompleteness and obvions
uncertainty of these descriptions. In spite of this I thought it best to make the attempt.
