my way by a different and unusual route to the country
of Lop-nor, how convenient it would have been had I then
had my Cossacks to act as a guard to the caravan, with
which I was sending the greater part of my baggage,
including between 600 and 700 lbs. weight of Chinese
silver money. It was eventually arranged that two of
the Cossacks of the Consular guard should be at my
disposal until we met the Buriat Cossacks.
