And give me a less loving glance?
I trust in thee!
What is ’t to me,
Even if I thought thou did’st forget me,

What is ’t to me,
If I perchance thy words should find

I know that beyond time’s control,
Even in the depths of thy undying soul,
Thou lovest me.

And though all earthly ties should sever,
My heart’s clear torch would burn as bright as ever:
My peace in thee!
