Further Notes on Chara tomentosa L. in Hälsingland, Sweden.
After publishing my paper on Chant tomentosa L. (Hot. Not. 1947. H. 2)
two new localities more towards the north along the Swedish East Coast have
become known. Mr J. Eriksson, Fil. Mag., has given to me a very nice
collection of the species from Hälsingland, Harmånger par., Alderviken (61 52 ).
The place is situated 85 km to the north of my finding in the parish of Skog
in 1946. The locality: a shallow bay of the sea with oozy bottom; the
specimens growing at a depth of 40 cm. The specimens: Chara tomentosa L. $ and
.cf, f. munda, elongata, nwcracantha, macroteles (20. VII. 1947). — The second
finding: Hälsingland, Söderhamnsfjärden at Klappervik (61 18’). Driving
along Ihe road of the northern side of the bay I noticed a population of
Ch. tomentosa distinct through its characteristic reddish colour. The locality:
clavish bottom, a depth of 30—40 cm. The specimens: Chara tomentosa L. cf,
f. munda, elongata, brachyphylla (7. VIII. 1947). The specimens were richly
covered with clay (not calciferous), Riuularia atra Hofh and Cladophora
fraeta (Vahl) Kütz. (det. H. L. Sku.jai .

Chara rudis A. Br., New to the Norwegian Flora.
During a stay in Oslo last spring 1 had the opportunity to look over
some C/i«r<7-collections of the Botanical Museum of the University. My
attention was then caught by some unnamed specimens of Chara rudis A. Br. My
determination was later confirmed by the Bev. O. J. IIasslow. — Locality:
Norway, Opland, Brandbu, V. Staksrudtjern. Coll. 19. VI. 1943 by P.
Stor-mer. With the collectors permission I now publish this »herbarial finding».
The species is not known from Norway before (see Hasslow 1936). In Sweden
il is met with in the eutrophic areas of Skåne, Gotland, Västergötland, and
Jämtland (Hasslow 1931, pp. Ill- 112! and in Denmark il occurs in alkaline
waters in Jylland, Lolland, and Sjælland (Olsen 1944, p. 139). Concerning
the extrascandinavian distribution 1 refer lo Olsen (p. 138). The presence of
the species in Opland ought not to lie surprising. The locality is situated in a
district very rich in linie and Strøm (1941, p. 27) stales the specific
conductivity of the surface water of this lake to be 281 (xis = n . 10—6). From the same
lake Dr Stormer also collected Ch. contraria A. Br. (det. O. J. Hasslow).
Up to now there are very few statements of G/mm-findings in Opland but we
may expect new findings in Ihe alkaline lakes of the Hadeland district.
