The forest area of Canada is 1,291,000 square miles representing more than
one-third of the total area of the country. Last year Canada’s principal
export was newsprint produced from the forests of New Brunswick, Quebec,
Ontario and British Columbia. Timber and wood pulp ranked fourth and
fifth, exceeded only by wheat and flour. This issue of “This is Canada”
presents a short picture story of Canadian forestry.
Boom men guide the great logs downstream from
the forests to the saw and paper mills.
