alist and conductor, who will direct a string
orchestra in Christmas music on December 25.
Musical Programs
CONCERT HALL (Sundays), is a pro-
gram of classical music featuring
internationally famous recording
artists and symphony orchestras.
J Azz Group (Mondays). A program of
music presenting Canada’s popular
jazz musicians under the direction
of Brian McCarthy.
EVENING RECITAL (Tuesdays). On
December 7th Clermont Pépin,
young Canadian composer and pianist
will perform a recital of his own com-
positions. The programs of December
21st and 28th will present Christmas
choral music under the direction of
Healy Willan.
Fred Hill, tenor, who will be heard in musical
comedies by popular composers in the series
“Two For The Show” on Wednesdays.
Two FOR THE SHOW (Wednesdays).
Fred Hill, tenor, and Jack Bristowe,
pianist, present their version of musi-
cal comedies by popular composers.
FOLK SONGS (Thursdays). Alan
Mills, Canada’s leading ballad singer,
interprets the folk songs of North
America and traces the origin of
many of these to the countries of
Europe and Great Britain.
Music OF THE MODERNS (Fridays).
Weekly series for the entertainment of
modern music enthusiasts.
PRAIRIE SCHOONER (Saturdays). One
of Canada’s most famous programs of
pioneer western music presented for
our overseas listeners.
Drama
BARLOWS OF BEAVER STREET (Mon-
days). Continuing the chronicle of
life in a typical Canadian family.
ON STAGE (Wednesdays). During
December On Stage will continue
the serialized version of the popular
Canadian novel “Two Solitudes” by
Hugh MacLennan.
Holiday Programs
During the holiday season special
broadcasts will be directed to listeners
in the United Kingdom. Some of the
programs scheduled here will be
omitted from the regular transmis-
sions in order to make time for the
special programs.
