The production of textiles, one of Canada’s oldest manu-
facturing industries, now employs more Canadians than any
other. For the most part, raw materials are imported in the
manufacture of cotton and woollen goods, but the industry has
developed through scientific research new methods of pro-
ducing nylon and rayon yarns from raw materials readily
available within Canada’s borders.
