The celebration of Christmas in Canada has evolved out of customs observed
in all the countries from which Canadians and their forefathers have emigrated.
Though it is still a religious event, Christmas here is completely identified
with wintertime. Snow, Santa riding in a sleigh, the Christmas tree—are the

principal symbols of the occasion. For most Canadian children it is the
merriest day of the year.
