At Arvida, Quebec province, a whole city is devoted to the conversion of water
power into electric power and raw bauxite into glistening ingots of aluminum.
This plant, with the greatest aluminum productivity in the world, supplies
Canada’s needs and markets 85 per cent of its product to scores of other
countries.
A Arvida, dans la Province de Québec, la population presque toute entiére
s’occupe de la transformation de l’énergie hydraulique en énergie électrique
et celle de la bauxite brute en lingots étincelants d’aluminium.
Cette usine, car en somme la ville constitue une usine, ayant la plus grande
production d’aluminium du monde, alimente les besoins du Canada méme,
et expédie 85 pour cent de sa production à des vingtaines d’autres pays.
