Glancing upward towards the top of one of the
highest of the four steel towers supporting the
five separate antenna arrays for the European
beam at the CBC International Service trans-
mitting plant at Sackville, N.B. The five
arrays have a total length of 1220 feet and are
suspended between the towers, two of which are
360 feet high, one 220 feet, and the fourth 165
feet.
This beam can also be reversed from serving
the United Kingdom and the European con-
tinent to cover Mexico, Central America, and
New Zealand. The beam uses altogether five
distinct arrays, one array for each of the five
frequency bands of 6, 9, 11, 15, and 17 mega-
cycles (49, 31, 25, 19, and 16 metres).

teurs du Service International de Radio-Canada

et sont suspendus entre les tours dont deux ont
une hauteur de 380 pieds, une de 220 pieds

tendeurs qui maintiennent l’écartement des fils.
Le faisceau dirigé vers l’Europe est reversible
vers le Mexique, l’Amérique Centrale, et la
Nouvelle-Zélande. Le faisceau opère à partir
de cing réseaux d’antennes respectivement ré-
glées dans les bandes des 49, 31, 25, 19 et 16
mètres (6, 9, 11, 15 et 17 mégacycles).
