Listeners will please note that im-
portant changes have taken place in
the schedule of the English language
transmissions broadcast three times
daily to listeners in the United King-
dom and Europe. The times and
frequencies of programs may be found
on pages 10 and 11 of this booklet.
Daily
News. Canadian and international
news is broadcast daily at 1700, 1845
and 2230 GMT.
Postnews Commentaries (Monday
to Friday). Short commentaries fol-
low the news at 1700 and 2230 GMT.
During January the speakers are:
Mondays, to be announced; Tues-
days, JB McGeachy of “dhe
Toronto Globe and Mail”; Wednes-
days, Charles Woodsworth of "The
Ottawa Citizen”; Thursdays, B. T.
Richardson of “The Ottawa Citizen”;
and Fridays, Walter O’Hearne of
“The Montreal Star” reporting from
United Nations.
Canadian Chronicle (Monday to
Saturday). Details behind the daily
headlines are presented by CBC re-
porters from coast to coast in Canada
in the United Kingdom edition of the
Canadian Chronicle at 1715 GMT
(Monday to Saturday) and in the
World edition at 2245 GMT (Mon-
days, Wednesdays, Fridays and Satur-
days).
Sundays
Let’s Look at Science. Short talks
on significant developments in science
in Canada following the news at 1710
GMT.
Canadian Primer (1715 — 1730
GMT). Pupils from across Canada
are taken through their lessons in the
letters pee ol ee JC and sed ka by
‘teacher’? Charles Wasserman on
January 7, 14, 21, and 28 respectively.
Listeners who guess in advance what
the five topics beginning with each
of these letters will be will receive a
prize if they mail their guess to CBC
International Service, Box 7000,
Montreal, Que. Letters must be post-
marked prior to the dates of the
programs.
Where Do We Stand (2240 - 2300
GMT). A program of Forum dis-
cussions with a panel of people inter-
ested, but not necessarily involved in
the problems featured. January 7,
“Is Canadian Sport Becoming Too
Commercial ?”; January 14, ‘Are
Good Manners Becoming Old-Fash-
ioned ?”’; January 21,‘‘Are Our Clothes
and Our Climate Compatible ?”; Jan-

Home and Community (2245-2300
GMT). A magazine of items chosen
from various contributors in order
to illustrate the daily lives of men,
women and children in Canadian
cities, towns and country areas. These
will include stories of the home and
its relation to the surrounding com-
munity, as well as interviews with
Canadians presenting details of life
in Canada.
Thursdays
This Week (2245 - 2300 GMT). A
program of notes and comments on
Canadian business, industry and la-
bour, and of Canadian participation
in international trade.
Saturdays
Canadiana (1710 and 2240 GMT).
Five-minute stories and legends from
Canada’s past and present.
