Program Notes

Commentaries: Postnews Com-
mentaries are heard following news
bulletins at 1700 and 2230 Monday
to Friday of each week. Speakers
are chosen from the editorial staffs of
representative newspapers in larger
Canadian centres, and academic per-
sonnel from our universities. Com-
mentators include: Warren Baldwin
of the Ottawa bureau of the Toronto
Globe and Mail: Hugh Boyd of the
Ottawa Citizen; | Protessom EUR:
Adair of the Department of History,
McGill University and J. B. McGea-
chy, well-known broadcaster and com-
mentator.

Talks: On Saturdays at 1710, the
program ‘“‘Canadiana”’ offers a vehicle
for colourful essays and stories about
Canada.

On Sundays at 1710 and 1855, “LET’S
WOOK AUD SCIENCE”. in wc
reporters tell about scientific dis-
coveries or contributions made to
international science in Canadian labs.
On Sundays at 1715, critics will talk
Gi “BOOKS AND SHOWS =
weekly magazine of the arts in Cana-
da. Canadian publications both in
books and periodical form, will be
noted and movies, art exhibits and
theatre performances reviewed.

Sundays at 2245, the 1952 semester
of the CBC’s schoolroom of the air,
"CANADIAN PRIMER”, An ABC
of basic facts about Canada. During
the month of January, ‘‘Teacher’’

Charles Wassermann and his ‘‘pupils’’
from coast to coast (with the aid of

Ken “Talking Blackboard’’ Davey)
will conduct lessons on Canada’s
natural resources, her population,
according to the 1951 Census, her
large cities and important manufac-
turing centres.

On Tuesdays at 2250, the program
SONT ANNO (COMI IMEUNNT IP N22?
gives everyday details of Canadians
and their neighbours, their activities
and descriptions of house, garden,
city and crossroads.

On Thursdays at 2250 the topical
program "THIS WEEK” offers
comments and reports on economic
matters, with reports of the business
of government from the Canadian
capital, and occasional comments on
labour, agriculture, trade and busi-
ness.

Uranium: North America’s largest known deposit of
uranium is being developed at Port Radium, in the
North-West Territories.
